Hello! Today was our 6 schools SHHK combined sports meet. I was so nervous that day. But, the good news is that I got 1st for high jump and will qualify to enter the national competition.
For the 100m heats event, I got 1st, qualifying for the finals. In the finals, I finished 4th even though I tried my best to run as fast as I could.
I dreaded the 200m heats event as it happened right after the 100m and I was exhausted. I ended up finishing 5th. I had leg cramps right after that.
The 4x100m relay came an hour later. Charmaine, Crystal, Joanna and I were taking part in that event. Even though we tried our very best, we still came in last in position. Well, there is always a next time!
I hope to take part in this Sports Meet again as it had been a meaningful and fun one this year. It brings out the sportsmanship in everyone! :) THE END

I think that BICEP is boring. They teach us stuff like Chinese history, but frankly speaking, some of the lessons are too abstract and difficult for me to grasp especially the ancient history. Sometimes the different teachers take us and some of them are strict and the lessons are not lively. There is also little interaction between teacher and students.

I hope that the teacher could spice up the lessons like having more games or challenges and use more innovative ways to teach us :(

I am feeling apprehensive today. Tomorrow is the 6 schools combined meet and I am taking part in 4 activities- 200m, 100m, 4x100m relay and high jump. Don't expect me to get first for every event because there is too many events to concentrate on. Well, wish me luck!:)

Do you know what Odyssey of the Mind is? Well, it is actually a competition which allows kids to apply their creativity to one of the topics they choose. The topics range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. A group of 7 pupils from our school participated in this mind-boggling competition- Xian Yao, Sherlyn, Lucas, Kai Lin, Gwen, Claudine and lastly, me. Today was our performance day, and it went like this...

We reached school at about 7.45am to get ready our props and rehearse a few rounds before setting off to ACS Primary where the competition was held. Miss Liana who is one of the teachers in charge, signaled us to get into the bus which will ferry us to ACS.

The school was very grand and has many buildings. The girls and I went to a quiet place where we could settle down and get ready for the performance. All of us had to make up and the girls commented that I looked like a Barbie doll- I had blusher, mascara, eyeliner and shiny lip gloss on, wow!

We entered the theatre at about 11am to perform in front of the audience. There were many schools taking part in the competition - primary and secondary schools and even polytechnics too. Our performance was about "Around the World in 8 Minutes". I was the behind-the-scene person, which meant I did not need to come out to perform, but was in charge of all the props and also to provide backup music. Everything went smoothly, without any glitches, which was what I had expected after everyone had put in their best effort. We had been practising very hard for the past few weeks!

We do not know the results of the competition yet because we left before the other performances ended. Today had certainly been a very good day. I hope to take part in this again next year.

On Saturday, my family and I went to the Esplanade to watch the Phantom of the Opera, a musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Its was my first time at the Esplanade and it truly was an eye-opener. I marvelled at the splendour of the famous "durian" by the Bay, and coupled with the hues of dusk, the Esplanade made for a good accompaniment of the scenic view of the cityside.
In the theatre, the musical started with the dimming of lights and a flashback to the protagonist, Christine's past when she was but an actress with a minor role in the theatre's plays. Unbeknownst to everyone, she is being secretly groomed by the Phantom, who resides in the dungeons beneath the theatre. Gradually, the Phantom, a disfigured, talented "angel of music" grooms Christine into a star, and only yearns for her love just as her childhood sweetheart appears, and they burst into a duet of the song "All I ask of you", which happens to be my favourite song. I admire the techniques used by the director, as he manages to elicit an initial response of fear and revulsion for the Phantom, but later reveals the hidden side of him as a tortured soul, longing for someone's love and company. Overall, the poignant musical provided pure enjoyment as I basked in the melodious harmony of voices, and I must say it was worth every single cent!!

MY NAPFA TEST

Today was my NAPFA test. I was feeling quite excited on the outside, but was actually petrified in the inside. I had butterflies in my stomach and felt like puking, which was why I did not eat my breakfast even after much cajoling on my mother's part.
It was a normal day for me when I went for class, but I started feeling queasy at 1.30pm after school. It was bustling with activities in the hall, where the test was held. I started off with Standing Broad Jump first. I could practically hear my heartbeat as I was so nervous. Many eyes were glued to me as I made my first jump. Luckily I landed on the numbers 175. I knew I had passed.
Next, I went to do Shuttle Run. I had a timing of 10.4 seconds. I passed again. Gaining my confidence, I headed to the Sit and Reach station. There, I got a... C! I was dismayed by the fact that this was the first time getting a C so I tried harder and got As for the remaining stations.
I am happy that I have completed all the stations successfully. THE END
