I revised a lot during the holidays and also, whenever I can. I study because I want to have good results and to make my parents proud of me. I got 1st in class 2 times, and that was because I had studied hard.
My weakest subjects are Mathematics and Science. They are difficult and complicated to me, but all the same, I will keep on striving hard to achieve my goal by, of course-studying hard.
~~THE END~~XD

Sihui's birthday party

On Sunday, 2nd September was Sihui's birthday. She celebrated her birthday at Timezone, an arcade centre in Marine Parade. Sihui invited Kaiying, Junhong, Crystal Chan, Earth(friends from other class) and me to her birthday. I gave Sihui a huge dog soft toy while Junhong and Kaiying gave her a CD with her pictures.
Sihui's mum then gave us a card each. The card was worth $10, which we could use it to play games at Timezone. I played many games, like driving, shooting zombies and many more. I liked the game in which I had to swipe the card and control the 'soft toy extractor' to get a soft toy. But luck was not on my side as I only got some miserable sweets.
After all that, everyone went up to the second storey to eat dinner and cut the birthday cake. There was a spread on the table, together with the birthday cake. The cake was an ice cream one, topped with white cream and cherries. It was delicious!
After eating and drinking, all of us went down to the photo machine to get our pictures taken. Sihui's birthday party was a fun one and I wish her a very happy 10th birthday! XD

During the 2 days of school breaks, I was bored at home, studying and doing homework. But something kept me happy and cheerful always during those gruelling days. That special something was my phone.
My phone model is Nokia 6288. It has all the functions- camera, radio, blue tooth and everything. It is a sliding phone and is black in colour. Well, black is beautiful after all! My parents bought me this phone as a Christmas gift.
Anyway, I am glad that my phone can blue tooth. When I am bored, I play the games I download on computer. I have games like Metal Slug, Pinball, Chess and many more.
When I am feeling apprehensive, I listen to music. I like to listen to music sung by Hilary Duff, Chris Daughtry, Linkin Park, Christina Aguilera and many more. Listening to music helps calm me down and cheer me up.
My phone is similiar to my brother's. His phone model is Nokia 6280. We often blue tooth songs to each other. I will always like and take good care of my phone. :-)

My long weekend

I went to Lower Pierce Reservoir for a nature walk last Friday with my family. It was sweltering hot on that day but I didn't mind as I got a chance to be with nature. When my family and I reached there, I could smell the fresh air and the sounds of crickets chirping gaily.
The first thing I saw was a troop of monkeys playing around. Some were eating while the others were just looking around. I wanted to take a picture of them, but when they started to growl at me I backed away.
My family and I then went to walk on the boardwalk. I saw many pond skaters gliding gracefully on the surface of the water and turtles eating bread fed by a boy. At that time, my fussy sister was complaining about the heat, so we decided to take a rest.
Later, we carried on walking and enjoying the picturesque scenery amidst the peace and serenity. I saw a few cracked shells on the way back. My father told me that the seeds inside the shell were rubber seeds. I started to look around for rubber seeds and found a few. A mischievous thought sprang into my mind. I rubbed a seed on the ground and thrust it onto my sister's leg. She yelped in pain as the heat from the seed pained her. I could not hold back my laughter and I started laughing hysterically.
The day soon ended as we went to a nearby shop to eat our dinner. While we were walking back, my brother saw a green tree lizard hiding underneath a cluster of leaves. My mother quickly fished out her cellphone and took a shot of it. Then, my sister spotted a slight movement on one of tree trunks. It was a squirrel! It was too quick for us as it jumped onto another trunk and ran away.
The trip had been a fruitful one and I hope to go there again to get in touch with nature again.

TRIXIE AND ME :)

Thursday, August 2, 2007

Today I am going to share with you my hobbies. They are playing with my dog Trixie, reading and playing table tennis.
Playing with my dog, Trixie, has always been my favourite past time. She never fails to bring joy and laughter to my family. She is 9 months old now and her birthday is on 23rd December. Even though Trixie does not attend dog obedience lessons, she still knows the 4 basic commands- sit, stay, heel and down.
Reading enhances our knowledge, and knowledge is power, which is why reading is meaningful. My whole family claims that I am a bookworm because they can always find a book in my hands, but I think otherwise.
Last but not least, I like to play table tennis. My team mates and I spend long hours training under our coach. The training days are Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Some of you may think that it may be very tiring, but it is really fun and challenging. Playing table tennis not only helps me to keep fit but also makes my mind sharp and alert. It is why I like this sport so much. Recently, our table tennis junior girls' team clinched the gold medal in the East-Zone Table Tennis Championships and Bronze in the National Championship.
Well, now you know what my hobbies are. What's yours? :)

My Favourite Book

My favourite book is titled "Resident Evil". Have you read it before? It is a very gripping novel. Well, the story is something like that:

The Hive, a subterranean(existing, situated or operating below the surface of the earth; underground) genetic research facility owned and operated by Umbrella, an immensely powerful corporation with interests in everything from human longevity to biowarfare(any attempt at mass destruction such as a bacteria or virus). With computerized defenses and heavily armed human backup, the Hive is impregnable(strong enough to withstand anything) and invulnerable(incapable of being wounded, hurt). Or so Umbrella believes.

But something has gone fatally wrong. The Hive has lost containment of its most lethal and horrific creation: a virus that kills and reanimates human life, reducing the entire facility staff of five hundred men and women to mindless creatures with a single driving force-hunger. And the key to stopping them is a woman who can't even remember her own name.

This book is basically about flesh-eating zombies, more crude words and more fighting. It is only intended for mature readers, which I don't think is true because I am below the age of eighteen, but overall this book is very addictive and has a series of it coming out. I highly recommend this book for all of you to read it.:)

MY BELOVED DOG :)
jealous? ha!!

Friday, July 20, 2007

My class and I went to VJC (Victoria Junior College) last friday. We boarded a very big bus which would take us there, but it broke down halfway through unexpectedly. It was swelteringly hot inside the bus and was also very noisy.
The bus managed to start it again and eventually brought us to our destination. The school was very big and there were many students. Miss Lee brought us to a room which was swarming with many students. I went to a station which was called 'Colours'. The people attending to the stall gave us a paper and we were supposed to say the colour of the word, not the word. It was very fun.
I went to many other stalls until it was time to go to another room. We then went to the Maths Room. There were many games to play, but I only managed to get a prize.
The trip had been a very fun and interesting one and I hope to go to these kind of excursions again.:-)

Thursday, July 19, 2007

My class went to the MICA atrium to see art exhibits yesterday. It was quite fun there, getting to see other student's artwork. Miss Lee had given us some worksheets to do before that. All the answers could be found in the exhibitions.
After seeing all the work displayed in the exhibition, I believe that a picture says a thousand words. Most of the artwork was beautifully done and handled carefully. I thought that all the artists were artistic after seeing all that art.
My trip to the MICA atrium was a fun and fruitful one, so I hope to have it again next year!

Hi everyone! Today I am going to share a movie I like most. It is 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix'. I had just watched it on Sunday.
In "Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix", Harry returns for his fifth year of study at Hogwarts only to discover that much of the wizarding community has been led to believe that a teenager's recent encounter with the evil Lord Voldemort is a lie, putting Harry's integrity in question. Worse, the Minister of Magic Arts teacher, the duplicitous Professor Dolores Umbridge. But Professor Umbridge's "ministry-approved" course of defensive magic leaves the young wizards woefully unprepared to defend themselves against the Dark forces threatening them, so at the prompting of his friends Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, he is convinced to take things into his own hands. Meeting secretly with a small group of students who name themselves "Dumbledore's Army", Harry teaches them them how to defend themselves against the Dark Arts, preparing the courageous young wizards for the extraodinary battle that lies ahead.
The movie is very interesting and gripping, especially the part where Harry fights with Lord Voldemort together with Dumbledore. You should really see this gripping movie! :-)

My BICEP trip to the Science Centre

Last Thursday was our BICEP to the Science Centre, the same day as my table tennis competition. After school, all my friends came down to eat their lunch in the canteen. We gathered in the canteen at 1.30 before setting off. We sat a bus to go to the Science Centre.
When we reached our destination, we were all so excited that we were chatting non-stop. Our teachers let us explore the place for a while then we followed the teacher to the 'China' exhibition. We were given some worksheets to do as we followed the guide. He told us all about China in the past like what things happened, what was invented and others.
When we had finished our worksheets and everything, our teachers let us explore the place before assembling to go back to school.
This BICEP trip to the Science Centre was a meaningful and fruitful one and I hope to have it again next year.

Last Thursday was our table tennis competition finals. My junoir girls team had to assemble in the canteen before setting off to Chongfu Primary School. My team consisted of Celeste, Yu Xuan, Jiarong, Haohan, Julia, Claudia and me. We were so anxious that we kept on saying that we were going to lose. The schools that we had to play against were Nanyang and Ai Tong. Of course, we could not win Nanyang but maybe for Ai Tong.
After singing the National Anthem and saying the pledge, my team and I set off with Madam Eng. When we reached Chongfu, we went to greet our coach and practised with her for the last 20 minutes. Celeste was the first single, Claudia and I the first double, Jiarong the second double, Haohan and Julia the second double and lastly, Yu Xuan the last single.
The first match started at 10.30. We were going to play against Nanyang. All of us tried our best to win them but lost 5-0. We then had our break. I bought some drinks and snacks to eat as I was famished. Later, we went to the hall again to play against our next opponent, Ai Tong.
We played against Ai Tong at 11 am. They were quite an easy feat as we beat them 4-1. Our coach then told us that we would be 3rd in position in this whole competition. All of us shouted in glee. We would be getting our trophies on the 18 of July. We were elated. So, as a treat, Madam Eng treated us to a scrumptious Mcdonalds' feast! All of us had the nugget meal.
We then went back to school to tell the Senior Boys this delightful news as they were going to play the finals later in the afternoon. I hope that we will continue to work hard and get first next year! :)

One of Japan's popular crafts is bamboo basket making. This craft work is popular as it requires good handling and exquisite bamboo strips. The history of bamboo baskets in Japan begins with their use of utilitarian objects during the Jomon period(10,000 to 300 B.C.E.). Along with serving functions in daily life, bamboo baskets have been very important to humans.

Today, bamboo baskets are an integral and cherished part of the time-honoured flower arrangement and tea ceremony. The Japanese bamboo basket exhibits extraodinary beauty and intricate craftsmanship. Dating from the late centuries to the present, these bamboo baskets reflect the life long tradition of Japanese basketry.

Hi again everyone. Remember my dog Trixie? Well, she just went for sterilisation today at the Mount Pleasant Animal Clinic. The poor thing, whimpering all the way to the clinic. She knew that she was going to the vet, which was the place dogs feared the most.
The place was filled with countless dogs waiting to see the vet. One thing in common, they were all terrified too. When Trixie was there, she struggled with all her might to escape but to no avail as the nurse called her in. I could not enter as they were going to perform a surgery to take out her ovary and uterus so that she will not reproduce anymore. All I knew was that she was given an anesthetic to keep her from fidgeting.
I came to collect her in the evening. She looked all worn out and dog-tired. It was the anesthetic, the nurse told me. Trixie had to wear a buster to keep her from scratching her stitched-up wound for 2 weeks. I really pitied her as she had to take antibiotics and heart worm tablets everyday. These were to protect her heart from Aedes mosquito bites.
Well, I hope everything will be over for Trixie by next week- the medications and the wearing of the buster. :(

My Little India trip

My class went to Little India today for an excursion along with other selected classes.I had a whale of a time there as my group found out more about the religion of Indians. The most exciting part was where we entered the Veeramakaliamman temple. There were many beautifully carved statues and sculptures.
My team consists of Jing En, Yuxuan, Jiale and I. We liked the activity in which we had to count the tiles. It was very easy. The place where we took our break was air conditioned and had a variety of food. There, I bought some drinks for myself and relaxed in the cool place.
I hope to go to other interesting places like Kampong Glam and Chinatown, the next time we go on another excursion. This one was a fruitful and knowledgeable trip!

Hello! Today was our 6 schools SHHK combined sports meet. I was so nervous that day. But, the good news is that I got 1st for high jump and will qualify to enter the national competition.
For the 100m heats event, I got 1st, qualifying for the finals. In the finals, I finished 4th even though I tried my best to run as fast as I could.
I dreaded the 200m heats event as it happened right after the 100m and I was exhausted. I ended up finishing 5th. I had leg cramps right after that.
The 4x100m relay came an hour later. Charmaine, Crystal, Joanna and I were taking part in that event. Even though we tried our very best, we still came in last in position. Well, there is always a next time!
I hope to take part in this Sports Meet again as it had been a meaningful and fun one this year. It brings out the sportsmanship in everyone! :) THE END

I think that BICEP is boring. They teach us stuff like Chinese history, but frankly speaking, some of the lessons are too abstract and difficult for me to grasp especially the ancient history. Sometimes the different teachers take us and some of them are strict and the lessons are not lively. There is also little interaction between teacher and students.

I hope that the teacher could spice up the lessons like having more games or challenges and use more innovative ways to teach us :(

I am feeling apprehensive today. Tomorrow is the 6 schools combined meet and I am taking part in 4 activities- 200m, 100m, 4x100m relay and high jump. Don't expect me to get first for every event because there is too many events to concentrate on. Well, wish me luck!:)

Do you know what Odyssey of the Mind is? Well, it is actually a competition which allows kids to apply their creativity to one of the topics they choose. The topics range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. A group of 7 pupils from our school participated in this mind-boggling competition- Xian Yao, Sherlyn, Lucas, Kai Lin, Gwen, Claudine and lastly, me. Today was our performance day, and it went like this...

We reached school at about 7.45am to get ready our props and rehearse a few rounds before setting off to ACS Primary where the competition was held. Miss Liana who is one of the teachers in charge, signaled us to get into the bus which will ferry us to ACS.

The school was very grand and has many buildings. The girls and I went to a quiet place where we could settle down and get ready for the performance. All of us had to make up and the girls commented that I looked like a Barbie doll- I had blusher, mascara, eyeliner and shiny lip gloss on, wow!

We entered the theatre at about 11am to perform in front of the audience. There were many schools taking part in the competition - primary and secondary schools and even polytechnics too. Our performance was about "Around the World in 8 Minutes". I was the behind-the-scene person, which meant I did not need to come out to perform, but was in charge of all the props and also to provide backup music. Everything went smoothly, without any glitches, which was what I had expected after everyone had put in their best effort. We had been practising very hard for the past few weeks!

We do not know the results of the competition yet because we left before the other performances ended. Today had certainly been a very good day. I hope to take part in this again next year.

On Saturday, my family and I went to the Esplanade to watch the Phantom of the Opera, a musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Its was my first time at the Esplanade and it truly was an eye-opener. I marvelled at the splendour of the famous "durian" by the Bay, and coupled with the hues of dusk, the Esplanade made for a good accompaniment of the scenic view of the cityside.
In the theatre, the musical started with the dimming of lights and a flashback to the protagonist, Christine's past when she was but an actress with a minor role in the theatre's plays. Unbeknownst to everyone, she is being secretly groomed by the Phantom, who resides in the dungeons beneath the theatre. Gradually, the Phantom, a disfigured, talented "angel of music" grooms Christine into a star, and only yearns for her love just as her childhood sweetheart appears, and they burst into a duet of the song "All I ask of you", which happens to be my favourite song. I admire the techniques used by the director, as he manages to elicit an initial response of fear and revulsion for the Phantom, but later reveals the hidden side of him as a tortured soul, longing for someone's love and company. Overall, the poignant musical provided pure enjoyment as I basked in the melodious harmony of voices, and I must say it was worth every single cent!!

MY NAPFA TEST

Today was my NAPFA test. I was feeling quite excited on the outside, but was actually petrified in the inside. I had butterflies in my stomach and felt like puking, which was why I did not eat my breakfast even after much cajoling on my mother's part.
It was a normal day for me when I went for class, but I started feeling queasy at 1.30pm after school. It was bustling with activities in the hall, where the test was held. I started off with Standing Broad Jump first. I could practically hear my heartbeat as I was so nervous. Many eyes were glued to me as I made my first jump. Luckily I landed on the numbers 175. I knew I had passed.
Next, I went to do Shuttle Run. I had a timing of 10.4 seconds. I passed again. Gaining my confidence, I headed to the Sit and Reach station. There, I got a... C! I was dismayed by the fact that this was the first time getting a C so I tried harder and got As for the remaining stations.
I am happy that I have completed all the stations successfully. THE END

MY PUPPY

"Good girl Trixie!" That is the praise my dog, Trixie likes. She is a female, 4 months old and a schnauzer. She likes to muzzle my nose and in return, I do that to her too. This cheeky dog is very adorable and obedient. She only barks when threatened or frightened, but it happens only once in a blue moon. Trixie likes to run with me and explore. With her little wet nose always sniffing and muzzling and her big sparkling eyes that glimmer with curiosity, Trixie is sure to make you cry out loud, "Oh my gosh! That is the cutest thing alive on earth!" and swoon. As a matter of fact, dogs have an acute sense of smell that is much more sensitive than that of a human's, and that could be a logical explanation as to why dogs are always sniffing around even a seemingly clean floor. Being a Pedigree dog meaning pure bred, Trixie's appetite is always excellent. Her favourite foods are pears, apples, bananas and not to mention carrots. Even at a distance of 1 metre, Trixie can detect those morsels and wallop them in one go. Of course, Trixie is toilet-trained. This active little puppy is getting her third and last immunization jab tomorrow.
Well, for all puppy haters, do you still have any conflicts on innocent puppies?

My Special Moment

It was on the twentieth of March, in the afternoon. My table tennis team was going to play in the East Zone Table Tennis Competition. We were all quivering with excitement. At 12.20 sharp, I went to change into my competition clothes. The next moment, I went to eat my lunch in the canteen. All my friends were already there. We then met our coach and went to train with her. I was in the doubles with my friend, Claudia.
At exactly 1pm, the judges and the other school players arrived. The competition was starting. Our team first played with the school Qiaonan. The first player up was the first single, Celeste. She fought with all her might and eventually won the game for us. 'Uh oh!' I thought as I was going up next. Well, as usual, we won and so did the rest. We won them 5-0. My coach was elated.
"Please take your seats. The next competition will be starting at about 2.45." Our coach told us that we will be playing against PeiQin Primary school. They were quite easy to beat, based on our standard, and we won them 5-0 again. That was all for that day.

My Holidays

My Holidays
The Term 1 holidays started last Monday.I had to stay in school from 8am in the morning to 5pm in the afternoon for Scrabble, Debate and table tennis on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. On Thursday and Friday, I had table tennis(as usual) and Odyssey of the Mind from 10am to 5pm. I will always be dog-tired at the end of the day as I am always rushing to be on time. A table tennis competition is comimg up next week so I am training super hard just to be in tip top condition and ready on that day. For the Scrabble course, it was really terrific. I realised that if your English is really superb, you can really trash those players till pulp. I managed to do that, but not always. Argumentation, the show 'The Arena', it all has something in common- it all leads to debating. If you know your facts well and know how to use them, you should be extremely good in debating. Odyssey of the Mind is a competition in which you choose a topic and have to act it out, but has to find the facts first.
How I wish that there would be a decent holiday just for me- no activities or courses. THE END

My Sullen Day

I woke up one morning to find that I was sick with flu. I could feel my nose clogged up with mucus and couldn't breathe at all. I started coughing a million times, which woke my startled parents. My mummy immediately took my temperature, which measured a gruelling 39.0. So, the next thing I knew was that I was changing my clothes and heading to the clinic. The doctor said that I had a mild FLU! I was so shocked. He prescribed me with many bottles of medicine for my cough, fever and running nose. How pathetic, I thought. Well, as you know, when parents are anxious or worried about your health, they will start choking you with the most horrid tasting medicine down your throat, which was what they immediately did when I reached home. A moment later, I was in bed again cuddled with Pokemon soft toys just to make my bed warm and comfy. I just hope that I can get rid of this contagious and darn virus out of my body and become a healthy and fit girl again.:( THE END 7/3/07

My Two Best Friends

My best friend is my dog Trixie, a schnauzer. I just received it last Friday. Coated with glossy black fur and a nose that always twitches, it is the cutest a dog can get. Trixie is very tame. She hardly barks nor whimper, which is perfectly normal because they are brought into a new enviroment circle and is seperated from its family. The three week old female puppy will always sit by the front gate, waiting for me to return back from school. With her bounty tail always wagging, I can guarantee you will never fail to be happy and enlightened everyday. One of her favourite hobbies are sitting on the couch watching football with me. She is definitely crazy on Arsenal and Man Utd, which is also one of my favourites. So, as a present, I am trying to get her a shirt with the initials imprinted on it. Zoey's favourite food are apples, pears and bananas, but dog biscuits suit her well too. I have vowed never to neglect her and love her with all my heart, which I will always do.

My New Year Holiday

I still recall the memorable moments of reunion dinner at my maternal grandmother's house on the eve of Chinese New Year. The first thing my siblings and I did was to greet my elders and wish them well. My cousins and I were elated to see each other once again when we met at my grandmother's house. I chatted happily with them until the elders called us to gather for "lou hei" or tossing fish salad and the steam boat. We had abalone, jellyfish, prawns and many more dishes. It was scrumptious. Later, my cousins played games with me and my siblings. We were having a whale of a time until we had to go home early as we were going to spend the whole afternoon at my paternal grandparent's house tomorrow.
On New Year's day, we left at 12 noon and set off to my paternal grandparents' house It was mostly elders there. We ate our lunch there, which consisted of "abacus" yam dough, vegetables and mushrooms, not to mention abalone too. Well, we did the same things there - eat, play and talk. At the end of the day, we were tired but satisfied all the same. These happy memories will always be etched in my mind.

Continued...

My New Year resolution is to pass my exams this year with flying colors. I also hope to play maple story more as i can only play it during the weekends.

I certainly want to have more time to play and also do things I want. My schedule is quite packed, because I have many competitions coming up, like my swimming, table tennis and Scrabble.
Anyway, my first resolution is to pass my exams so that my parents do not worry so much. I am trying to plop those important basics into my mind, so I am trying very hard.
This is also my wish: to have more time playing Maplestory. My characters are 'Crusader ' and 'Bowman'. They are both levels 109 and I do wish to train them harder to get to higher levels. Such a pity I can only play Maplestory during the weekends, only from 7p.m. to 11p.m.
Last but not least, I also want to spend most of my time going to the outdoors to exercise, like running, walking, playing table tennis, swimming and playing badminton. Reading books is also an exception, but unless I am snug up on a comfy chair with air conditioning and some soft drinks by my side.
A new year, a new start of something new. I hope I will put my best effort in everything I do and be a good role model! :)
